Beef Biryani Recipe |
Here is a recipe for beef biryani that serves 6-8 people:
Ingredients:
- 1 pound beef (stew meat or boneless beef chuck, cut into small pieces)
- 1 cup basmati rice
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon grated ginger
- 1/2 cup plain yogurt
- 2 tablespoons ghee or vegetable oil
- 2 bay leaves
- 4 green cardamom pods
- 4 cloves
- 1 cinnamon stick
- pinch of saffron threads
- salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions:
- Rinse the rice in cold water and soak it in water for 30 minutes. Drain the rice and set aside.
- Heat the ghee or oil in a large pot or Dutch oven over medium heat. Add the onions and cook until they are soft and translucent about 5 minutes. Add the garlic and ginger and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes.
- Add the beef to the pot and cook until it is browned on all sides, about 5-7 minutes.
- Add the soaked and drained rice to the pot, along with the yogurt, bay leaves, cardamom pods, cloves, cinnamon sticks, and saffron. Stir to combine.
- Add enough water to the pot to cover the ingredients by about 1 inch. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and cover the pot. Simmer the biryani for about 20-25 minutes, or until the rice is tender and the beef is cooked through.
- Remove the pot from the heat and let it sit, covered, for an additional 5-10 minutes. This will allow the flavors to meld and the rice to fully cook.
- Fluff the biryani with a fork and serve hot, with raita and vegetables on the side.
- Enjoy!
